On Their Way

So after my youngest sister, C, spraypainted "Looters will be tortured, decapitated and set on fire!" across the plywood covering her windows, she is on her way to Austin. She left at 4am this morning when contraflow opened and has been making good time. She was cruising at 75mph but has had to slow down to 66mph.

S, on the other hand, had a terrible night and didn't leave until 6am from Slidell. She is heading to Huntsville after a generous offer from my oldest friend, Sarah! She is averaging just 9mph and is only in Poplarville after 4 hours of driving. At least they are moving slow enough that they don't have to pull over so the dogs can pee.

At present there is not a single hotel room (except on the Gulf coast) in Louisiana, Mississippi or Louisiana. Most of Arkansas, southern Missouri, SW Tennessee and parts of Georgia and Florida are also completely sold out.

People have heeded the warnings and are leaving. Now if only the weather forecasters can be wrong and this storm will diminish rather than grow, all will be good.
